Understand the difference between copy editing and proofreading
If you want a more in-depth revision of your text, copy editing is the right choice for you. This service is particularly useful when writing in a language other than your mother tongue.
Proofreading, on the other hand, focuses on correcting spelling, punctuation and typographical errors without significantly influencing the structure or content of the text. It's a service that ensures your text is error-free and professional.
Whether you choose copy editing or proofreading, you'll receive a file with tracked changes so you can see our corrections. This way you can approve changes with one click or review them one by one, so you're always in control of the adjustments being made.
What does professional proofreading cost?
We proofread texts created by both humans and AI. The former is billed at a fixed price of EUR 0.05 per word, while the latter is billed at a fixed hourly rate of EUR 75.
We pay our proofreaders by the hour when they proofread AI-generated text, because these types of texts sometimes require more work than a text written by a human. But that doesn't necessarily mean the price will be higher than if you had written the text yourself. We just find that validating and proofreading AI-generated content is sometimes more difficult.
However, the price is the same for all languages, and if you're worried about the price getting out of hand, we can set an upper limit for how many hours the proofreader can spend on the job. See all prices on our pricing page.
Why spend time and money on proofreading?
No matter how proficient you are in a language, it can be difficult to spot errors in a text you've written yourself. We are often too close to our own content and therefore less likely to view it critically.
A professional proofreader is objective and can make the necessary adjustments to ensure your text is error-free and sounds good.
Most writers can weed out the most obvious mistakes and errors, but a professional proofreader will often find more subtle errors and miswordings that lead to misunderstandings.
So even though many companies have employees with strong language skills and a deep knowledge of both the product and industry-specific terminology, it’s still a good idea to have the text proofread – especially if the writer is not a native speaker of the language.
We offer proofreading in Danish, German, English and over 70 other languages. We can also help you proofread machine- or AI- translated texts. Click the 'get a quote' button and get a quote for proofreading.

A professionally proofread website boosts the bottom line
A number of studies show that language has a major impact on consumers' willingness to buy. In a survey conducted by Børsen, 42% of respondents said that they get a negative impression of a brand if the content contains typos and spelling mistakes.
Other studies indicate that websites with well-written, error-free texts score four times higher on trust. In other words, professional proofreading can be an important investment to improve your website's credibility and attract more customers.

Too many cooks spoil the stew
In many organisations, content is created by multiple employees in collaboration. These different 'cooks' often have different idiolects (special ways of writing and phrasing). This collaboration affects the text and can result in a disjointed text with distinct writing styles. With thorough proofreading, we harmonise the language into one coherent style, making it harder to see that the text has been written by several different 'cooks'.
The proofreader also makes sure to standardise terminology where the ‘cooks’ have used differing terminology.
Can you make a good 'cake' out of bad ingredients?
The obvious answer is no. No matter whether you're a cook or a proofreader, if your ingredients are of poor quality, you'll be in trouble. Just as it’s impossible to bake a delicious cake from bad ingredients, it's hard to proofread and optimise a text riddled with serious flaws, chaotic structures, or incomprehensible passages.
While we’ll always do our best to make a text as strong as possible, it's still a good idea to perform quality control on the content internally before sending it to us for proofreading.
Should we decide that more extensive changes are necessary, copy editing is an excellent alternative to proofreading. Read more about the differences between proofreading and copy editing here.
Professional proofreading can save lives!
It's easy to become pedantic and perfectionist when you've made communication your life's work. When proofreading, we pay close attention to details others rarely notice. We might smile in self-irony as we carefully convert hyphens to em-dashes and ensure proper formatting of spaces between numbers and percentage signs. But there's good reason for our diligence – even the smallest characters can make a big difference.
Of course, it may seem a bit excessive to be so concerned about whether a text is consistent, e.g. in its use of quotation marks. But it shouldn't be seen as anything other than a deep love for the language, just as it is a sign that we take our work as proofreaders very seriously. Proofreading of digital materials
Whether you need a review of your website, product catalogues, social media posts, ad copy or something else entirely, you've come to the right place.
With our proofreading services, we’ll ensure that your content always looks professional and is error-free. If the proofreading is done in a format such as InDesign or Photoshop, we can also take care of the graphic layout post-proofreading for a small additional fee.
If you want proofreading of a website, we can extract the text via an integration. It’s also possible for us to proofread directly in your CMS, but it's easier and cheaper if we extract the text as XLIFF files. Just call or write to us, and we'll find a good solution for your needs.
Proofreading of printed materials
We also offer proofreading of printed materials.
With many years of experience and a pool of skilled proofreaders, we can handle everything from presentations and sales materials to comprehensive white papers and product catalogues. We ensure that your materials look professional and are error-free – and we’re happy to help with the layout and prepare the proofread files for print.

"Translated By Us has proofread my English texts several times. I write them myself, but like to have an English proofreader check them before they are sent out into the world. The process has always been smooth and I have always received the proofread files on time."
