Certified translation, sworn translation, authorised translation, state-certified translation, official translation – how can I ensure that my official documents are translated professionally and legally?
The Danish Act on State-Authorised Translators and Interpreters was repealed in January 2016, and the titles state-certified translator and authorised translator are no longer protected in Denmark.
Before the repeal, all certified translators were required to pass an exam before they were allowed to work as state-certified or authorised translators. Many people still mistakenly believe that official documents must be translated by a “state-certified translator”, but this is no longer the case. And unfortunately, using a certified translator is no guarantee of high quality. In fact, that was one of the reasons for repealing the law that required official documents to be translated by state-certified translators in the first place.
So what does this mean for you?
Before the Act was repealed, the authorisation of certified translators by the state was thought to be a guarantee of high quality for official translations. Today, choosing to use an experienced translation agency like Us will ensure equally high quality – and more! Here at Translated By Us, we follow a six-eye principle, which means that your translation is prepared and evaluated by three qualified linguists – a translator, a proofreader and a project manager. Your project manager guarantees the quality of the material and will inform you about any ambiguous passages in the source text or translation – e.g. regarding interpretation or localisation. We also use state-of-the-art translation software to further support the linguists working with your texts. Translators can consult our extensive translation memories, and editors can use the software's smart search filters and advanced functions to ensure consistent terminology and avoid spelling errors and typos. Your project manager will then perform a final series of quality checks before delivering your translation. We’ve come a long way from the days when a lone translator put their seal on a translation before anyone else had seen it, much less proofread the text or performed rigorous checks for quality and consistency. When you choose Translated by Us, you can rest assured that at least three qualified linguists are involved in certifying and delivering your translation. “Certified” translation for companies opening branches or subsidiaries abroad
Opening a business abroad requires the meticulous translation of a number of important documents. It’s always important that translated documents maintain their original meaning and that important points don’t get “lost in translation”. This is especially true when translating legal documents, where requirements and regulations can vary from country to country – precision is therefore of the utmost importance! Using an experienced translation agency can help you avoid the common errors and misunderstandings that can make your company appear unprofessional and ultimately lead to business challenges. Translated By Us has many years of experience assisting companies in virtually every industry imaginable. We are therefore qualified to translate all kinds of official documents with rigour and routine, and on the rare occasion that we encounter an unfamiliar task, we can rely on the expertise and professionalism of our extensive network of linguists. Typical documents requiring legalisation include registration information from the Danish Business Authority or the Danish Tax Agency, as well as contracts and annual reports.
Choose a reliable translation partner if your company is opening abroad!
Companies that need “certified translations” who choose to enter into a long-term collaboration with a translation agency are at a distinct advantage. A collaboration agreement with Translated By Us offers both security and efficiency. We have the resources to incorporate your company’s DNA and linguistic style, as well as ensure that your industry-specific terminology and unique tone-of-voice aren’t “lost in translation”. Your company will be assigned a regular translation team that can access reference materials and term databases that are continuously updated with new terms customised to your needs. A long-term collaboration will ensure that your company always receives translations of the highest quality, giving you the best value for money. When you choose Translated by Us as your collaboration partner, every translation will be stored in our translation memory. This not only improves consistency, it is also a financial advantage for your company because the memory recognises passages that have previously been translated and subtracts them from the final price, saving you both time and money.
Translation of legal documents with apostille for Danish companies abroad
Many countries require official documents to be legalised with an apostille certificate, which is a form of authentication recognised by members of the Hague Convention of 1961. Different countries have different requirements and guidelines, so your needs will vary depending on the countries to which your business is moving. When you choose to use a translation agency like Us, time is on your side. We’ll obtain the apostille certificate directly, so you can avoid the long registration processes at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the embassies of the countries to which your company is moving. Read more about legal translations and apostille certificates here.
Please note, we do not translate official documents that must be subsequently notarised and legalised (e.g. driving licences, bank statements, diplomas, marriage certificates, etc.) for private individuals.
